Why copy C:\MinGW\msys\1.0 to C:\MinGW ? #10

One of the steps in the README / instructions is:

Now go to C:\MinGW\msys\1.0 and copy everything over to C:\MinGW.

What purpose does this serve? Could we also just run the msys.bat file from the 1.0 directory?

I just tested for this on a clean install of XP with a clean MinGW install. You don't need to copy/move the files. It works with everything in the default installed folders.
