Rename the "bantu" functor #105
Comments
Also, the languages do not use standard names or abbreviations:
Perhaps change the names and abbreviations? (But then we come to the problem in #106, that there is already a Swahili grammar) |
No thoughts about this? @kitukb @aarneranta @johnjcamilleri @inariksit @daherb @krangelov ? |
-on Kamba the actual name of the language is Kikamba |
For Swahili, I think there should be a single folder If the two implementations should really both be considered active (which is doubtful) then they should be in |
The addition of the
bantu
functor (in PR #32 ), together with the three new languagesegekusii
,kikamba
andkiswahili
, is a welcome addition to the RGL. But unfortunately the adoption was too quick -- I think there should be more of a discussion when adding new languages, and in particular functors. In the case of Bantu languages, there are several people working on GF grammars, who have not been involved in the discussions of the new functor. I know of people from Uganda and South Africa, but there might be more.
So, I suggest that we rename the
bantu
functor tobantu_KE
or something like that (KE is the country code for Kenya). Then the Ugandan and South African people can add their own functors (asbantu_UG
andbantu_SA
), and then in the end hopefully all functors can be combined. The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
