I wanted to make a note of this in the repository in case any of the other instructors notice this, but several of our students hit a github API limit when we had them run install_github command:
`> devtools::install_github("How-to-Learn-to-Code/rclass", build_opts = "", dependencies = TRUE)
Error: Failed to install 'unknown package' from GitHub:
HTTP error 403.
API rate limit exceeded for 34.203.76.245. (But here's the good news: Authenticated requests get a higher rate limit. Check out the documentation for more details.)
Use usethis::create_github_token() to create a Personal Access Token.
Use usethis::edit_r_environ() and add the token as GITHUB_PAT
`
I'm guessing there is no way around this short of having the students preload the package for the vignettes or paying github. My solution was to compile the first lesson to PDF and email it out. At the end of class we then had the few students that got caught by the API limit run the command again.
