I would suggest bigger Icons and a indicator:

  1. if I already retweeted a tweet or not. I can't see the icons for answer, retweet or favorite in my timeline and
  2. I can't differentiate if I already retweeted that tweet.

(Cawbird 1.4.1 / Kubuntu 20.04 / Dark Breeze Theme)

I think we need a screenshot to see what it looks like in the Dark Breeze theme.

There's only so much that we can do about themes, though. We can't design for all themes because there's an almost infinite amount of combinations of colours and ways in which people can break things. We're using fairly standard colours right now, and the icons are about the same size as the text, so it should be reasonable across most themes. They won't be going full colour, though, because that would add too much visual noise.

I would like the option to have 'large icons' too.. nothing more complex than, say, icons being displayed at 1.75 or 2x their current size, enabled by a preferences item. I can see the benefit of coloured icons but perhaps that makes things more complex than needed.
