Checklist

  • This feature I'm requesting is already implemented in yt-dlp.
  • This feature is merely a UI/UX update.
  • This feature is suitable for primary users with little knowledge about yt-dlp.
  • This feature is available for most websites, not only the video platform I use.
  • This feature is suitable for a large variety of videos.
  • This feature is not going to conflict with many of the existing options.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

I mostly use monitored networks, meaning that all traffic is decrypted for filtering and monitoring purposes, and signed back using a custom CA installed on the devices.
Can you make the app support such a scenario?
When using yt-dlp on the command line, you can simply add --no-check-certificate.

Describe the solution you'd like

One of those:

  • A global option to ignore certificate errors
  • An option to set a path to a custom CA file
  • Have the app automatically trust CA certificates that the user installs in the Android settings.
