More sofisticated watching of the project dirs could be implemented:

even if a project dir is missed, the upper level dirs could watch for appearing 
the corresponding sub-dirs. Currently if a project dir disappeared it will not 
be noticed when it appears again.

This may be important in a not very reliable NFS environment.
