Hello, I've seen the need of a Baker version for Android and while some attempts are the I believe one of the key aspects will be to use the same hpub and the ability to have several magazines instead of just one.

For what I've read on Github some client work have been displayed but the ones with the same functionality have not been able to share it as open source.

I have a crazy idea, I need an Android version and instead of paying a developer to create a new one (just for me) I can financially help a developer that might need some extra source of income to create one (others are welcome to chip in as well) and have it open source.

This is based that someone might have the talent to do it but still needs to pay the bills which i understand, this can help them cover the expenses and still get back something that is needed for many like myself.

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi @fcontreras - Is this close to release? Could not make out from the Github Wiki ... Please let me know.
Also assuming this needs to integrate with Friar?

Thanks,
Dev.

Hello @dkamdar
We are close to release something for free magazines right now.
The code can be found under https://github.com/fcontreras/gindpubs-frameworks

This is a new project and is not related to Friar.

That's wonderful news. :)

What feature set were you able to cover? :)

Hi @folletto

We were able to create a newsstand similar app with:

  • The shelf and basics download, open and archive functions.
  • Able to show magazines with a very similar user experience including the index.
  • Able to use Google cloud notifications to download the latest issue.

Fully compatible with the hpub and shelf.json files the baker based apps are using right now. Works only for free publications
