GLA Demo Trap scaffold cannot be clicked until GLA Worker gets close.
kABUSE:
Scaffolds only are initiated when constructor gets close. For demo traps that means, that the trap cannot be clicked until initiated. You need to use drag box to select it and are forced to cancel construction, as there is no way to continue a paused construction for uninitiated trap scaffolds.
The main difference to other construction scaffolds is that demo traps go up without construction fences. So you cannot interact with the scaffold by hovering over their construction fences. Maybe there is a way to add some sort of invisible, clickable object to compensate for the missing construction fences without any visual changes.

This looks to be a valid observation. Why should the Demo Trap scaffold behave differently? Being visually different is ok, but ideally it functions identical to other scaffolds.
