FreePSXBoot Exploit Launches but Freezes on Cyan - Problem Seems to Stem From Memory Card?

After much searching, i've been told that those "1 mega" cards aren't meant for freepsxboot, the peculiar thing is that between my '1 mega' mc and official (plastic reads SCPH-1020) card, the official is the one that encounters this problem, not the knockoff. is this a result of the catered workaround? and yes, i have tried the specific card on two consoles with their respective exploits, an SCPH-7000 and SCPH-5500. I have almost 0 expertise and am making a guess, i'd like to know if the cyan freeze is a new thing.
