no timeout or error information for attempted login #8

Using macOS version on BigSur

If I put incorrect credentials in to login, the "Connecting" notice just keeps spinning forever.

It seems that there should instead be:

A timeout functionality and/or
Automatic cancellation on error and/or
A useful error message indicating what went wrong (timeout or specific error)
