Hi,
I use Debian 12 (emacs 28.2, debian meta package 1:28.2+1-15), and elpa-ess package 18.10.2+git20220915.
Trying to load the ess environment (M-X R), I get the answer :
Loading file /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/elpa/ess-18.10.3snapshot/ess-rd.el failed to provide feature ‘essddr’
Indeed, no reference to essddr in the ess-rd.el file in ess-18.10.3snapshot.
Please also note some strange facts :
the pattern 'ddr' exists in file ess-rd.elc in ess-18.10.2
the file ess-rd.el does not exist in ess-18.10.2
but the pattern 'ddr' does not exist in file ess-rd.elc in ess-18.10.3snapshot as previously said
I also get a series of messages such as "Cannot look-up eln file as no source file was found for /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/elpa/ess-18.10.2/ess-r-mode.elc" although the file exists
Is it a common problem ? Any idea ? Looks like an installation problem in Debian 12.
Thanks, regards
