Description

Files containing Unicode characters are not parsed correctly, leading to a plethora of errors / segfaults.

Reproduction Steps

No errors or segfaults.

Errors / segfaults.

Going to put this on hold while focusing on the actual parser etc. Maybe in the first phase rewrite.
