Drop down menu issue

Once I activate the drop down menu if you click anywhere beneath the menu where the scroll bar will be the menu is activated again.

For instance I have a standard drop down menu beneath my chosen element. If I activate the chosen menu, then try to click the arrow of the below menu. The chosen menu will activate again.
