Description

A licenses file is missing for the project.

Parties involved:

  • Markus Scheinert created the concept
  • Markus Scheinert wrote original bash script
  • Lucienne Micallef wrote the python code
  • Markus Scheinert contributed to python code
  • Markus Scheinert wrote documentation
  • Funded by EC
  • Project: IMMERSE consortium
  • Employer (Lucienne&Markus): GEOMAR

Proposed Solution

Select one from FLOSS licenses:

Personally, I'd prefer Apache License Version 2.0

@lesommer do you have any thoughts about which licenses we should attach to nemo-simsar? Is there any demand by the EC you might be aware of? I do remember that the question of license appeared during the application phase and we stated that we would deploy the software under some public license but we did not refer to a specific license, didn't we?

@lmicallef , did you use any third-party software (e.g. snippets) other than the imported modules?

Other modules are part of the python standard library:

  • os (PSF)
  • re (PSF)
  • subprocess (PSF)
  • pathlib (PSF)
  • textwrap (PSF)
  • glob (PSF)
  • configparser (PSF)

I'm not sure about the consequences of the GPL-2 license the svn package is distributed under... The package nxpy-svn (Boost Software License 1.0), a wrapper for the local svn client, could provide a work-around.

@mscheinert I used third party snippets from https://gist.github.com/m0neysha/219bad4b02d2008e0154 to create the markdown table.
