That Rust crate was abandoned 3+ years ago.

You should use libsodium-sys-stable instead of libsodium-sys.

Found an answer, the XCode CLI tools released on 17 September 2024 bumped clang to v16 and caused this issue. Downgrading the CLI tools resolved the issue.
