DSM coupling with SPECFEM

Previously, specfem3d has been coupled with the 1D synthetic seismogram makers such as fk and axisem. Those capabilities are not easy to sustain, since both codes evolve with time, making the linkages challenging to maintain.

I wanted to point out an example of coupling between dsm (https://github.com/UT-GlobalSeismology/DSMsynTI-mpi) and specfem3d; these capabilities are not present in the specfem3d package but are documented below.

The github repo includes a nice pdf manual (dated August 8, 2018). The application is for source-side structure, not receiver side. Potentially dsm could be a nice option for coupling applications, either with specfem3d or with specfem3d_globe. (Yuan Tian, thanks for this info.)
