Try arttime in docker, podman or other containerized environments

This discussion page is for sharing recipes for running arttime in containerized environments. Currently I have tried it under docker, and podman. You are welcome to share recipes for other containerized environments.

Here's an example on how arttime can be run in docker:

docker run -e TERM -e LC_ALL=C.UTF-8 -e TZ -it --rm zshusers/zsh:5.8 zsh -c '
  export SHELL=$(command -v zsh)
  apt update
  apt install -y curl less
  curl -fsSL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/poetaman/bdc598ee607e9767fe33da50e993c650/raw/d3d5e29427304d977044b594fbb6cc84616c30d4/arttime_online_installer.sh | TERM=xterm-256color zsh
  TERM=xterm-256color ~/.local/bin/arttime;'

podman is CLI compatible with docker. So the only thing different is the command name after you have set up podman to run on your system.

podman run -e TERM -e LC_ALL=C.UTF-8 -e TZ -it --rm zshusers/zsh:5.8 zsh -c '
  export SHELL=$(command -v zsh)
  apt update
  apt install -y curl less

  TERM=xterm-256color ~/.local/bin/arttime;'

Note: On macOS a bug in docker/podman might cause the container's time to drift w.r.t host time. This should not happen if you test docker/podman containers for arttime right after starting docker/podman. Nevertheless if you do observe it, stop and restart your respective docker/podman Linux VM (yes on macOS Linux is virtualized by docker and podman).
