I just tested with MFT 4.28 but can't seem to reproduce the issue:

# mlxconfig -v
mlxconfig, mft 4.28.0-92, built on Apr 25 2024, 15:23:15. Git SHA Hash: N/A
# ./ibswinfo.sh -d lid-6 | grep "part number"
part number        | MQM8790-HS2F

What model of switch are you getting this error with?
