I frequently have the problem to find a style based on the requirements of some (obscure) guidelines. There might be no known name, just do it like this. The search by example often gives me just some hints of similar styles and it is for example almost impossible to search for a footnote style. Instead I would like to have a search where I can give some key feature of the citation style. The minor tweaks I can then do easily by adapting an similar style.

A key feature of a citation style is for me for example the appearance and ordering of author (A), year (Y) and title (T). I would like to find AYT resp. ATY styles or filter according to their et-al settings. Moreover, for a book it is important if variables like edition, publisher, place is given.

I would like to have some search options or filter options for such key features and the styles-webpage seems for me ideal here. Because the number of styles increases, I guess that we really need some more filter option to narrow down searches for styles. Technically, this should be possible by analyzing the rendered examples. I did some testing in a GoogleSpreadsheet which I can share.

Citavi (another citation reference manager) has recentrly added the possibility to search for their styles: Advanced Search for Citation Styles. As far as I can say, that is an important selling argument for them now.
