Strategy/plan for coordinating Tides validation. Rough notes - to be revised

Dave's recommended path:

  • Start with Tides validation methods rather than GTM paper.
  • Use data in for_DA_dense to create a tidegauge object.
  • Use the coast obs_operator to extract timeseries from model hourly output and do harmonic analysis with utide.

Path (something like):

  • Bottom pressure data in /projectsa/globaltides/obs for_DA_dense

Script:

  • template script for COAsT to read in multiple obs files from dir, sort out noisy time steps, and do harmonic analysis.

However, Alex is going to process the hourly data to give harmonic output files
