Why is this the best possible solution? Were any other approaches considered?
I considered not releasing but #697 is a nice fix to something we know users have run into. Let's get it out. I checked to see whether any dependencies have updates but none do.
What are the regression risks?
Most of the changes we're releasing are to tooling so should be relatively low.
