If you received your tag prebuilt, it came preloaded with a link to these instructions. Using an NFC tool app, you can overwrite the default content to make it your own.
Examples:
- Your digital business card (name, email, phone, etc.)
- A website link
- LinkedIn profile
- GitHub profile
- Instagram profile
- Personal website
- WiFi credentials
If your phone supports tapping to pay at a store, it will likely support reading and writing NFC tags. Below are 2 recommendations:
Use an app to change the tag content to a website, social profile, or virtual business card.
- Open the NFC Tools app
- Tap the
Write
button. - Tap the
Add a record
button. - Select the type of record and fill in the details.
- Verify the number of bytes is less than 504 (the tag's capacity).
- Tap the
Write
button and it will say "Ready to Scan". - Hold your phone near the tag, similar to tapping to pay at a store.
- The app will show success and the tag is ready to be used.
If you made it this far, you likely know how to read a tag. π If not, here are the steps:
- Bring your phone near the tag, similar to tapping to pay at a store.
- Your phone will show a notification with the tag's content.
- Tap the notification to open the link, contact card, or other content.
That's cool and all, but how do I make one?!

I have an idea for a design! Can you help me make it? Please! π₯Ί
Absolutely! Check out the design your own page. It should answer any questions you have.
Alternately, feel free to submit your design idea as an issue. Maybe someone else will pick it up! π If it gets 10+ likes, I'll make it myself. π
- When scanned, URLs are opening in a web browser instead of the app.
There is a not-so-obvious iOS setting for 'Universal Links' which simply remembers what you did last time.- To disable Universal Links, long-press the link and select Open in Safari. In the future, related links will open in a web browser instead of the app.
- To enable Universal Links, long-press the link and select Open in (app name). In the future, related links will open in the app instead of a web browser.
