Video Shooting and Editing Guidelines

Informative Names

Yes, we know it takes up to 1.2 seconds, but there are few things that are less fun than having to locate a file named IMG234.MOV. Thanks for naming your file with an informative name!

Do not shoot vertical video

Steady

Make sure you have a steady base for your camera. Do not shoot hand-held unless it's absolutely necessary. Always use a tripod. If you must use hand-held, use pre and post-shooting image stabilization.

Lighting

Make sure that lighting is even and that screen content is visible. Be aware of hard shadows.

Framing

Make sure that the framing and blocking of the scene makes sense. Make sure that the frame is used efficiently and that everything is in the frame. Do not cut/crop important elements.
