Primarily, it cleans up the dashboard for your clients users providing a simpler version of the WordPress dashboard and removing admin menus they never need. It also contains a number of functions, hooks and filters to allow you to amend things in the WordPress dashboard quickly and easily. It does all this whilst maintaining your ability to see everything as normal with no changes. == Installation == To install the plugin: 1. Upload `wpbasis` to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory 2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress 3. Visit the settings page under Settings > WP Basis == Frequently Asked Questions == = What does this plugin actually do? = Put simply, the plugin alters the dashboard for users who you set as none WP Basis Super users. It gives them a more simplified dashboard home screen and removes many of the menus that are not needed for clients as they will only confuse them. The plugin also provides a number of templating functions that are useful on many sites. = Can I change the way the plugin behaves? = The plugin is built with extensibility in mind. In fact this was at the core of its build so that by using this plugin I could still do different things for different sites. Most functions etc. provide actions and filters so that you can change things. For example you can add back in admin menus you may need and add and remove or change the contents of the new dashboard page. Search the plugin code for `apply_filters` and `do_action` as these are your extensibility flags! == Screenshots == 1. The WP Basis settings screen. Here you set your domain name and organisation name. 2. Add new WP Basis Super User checkbox appears on the profile screen for users who's email domain match that in the settings. With this box checked the admin changes do not take effect. 3. None super users are given a new, more simplified dashboard home page with a number of menu items removed. == Changelog == = 1.6.4 = * Hotfix to correct a typo on the settings page - thanks to @mattradford for discovering. = 1.6.3 = * Prevents a warning message appearing with WP_DEBUG set to true when there is a core upgrade available. * Prevent access to the theme-editor.php if you know the URL and you are not a super user. * Allow filtering of Gravity Forms capabilities = 1.6.2 = * Moves the admin bar toggle links from front end to admin to the front of the admin bar menu so that it is the first item in the list. = 1.6.1 = * WP Basis super users get to see all widgets rather than only the ones not removed by the plugin. * Provides a filter for changing the admin bar links and titles. * Make admin bar elements removed filterable so they can be added back-in easier by developers for specific users. = 1.6 = * Tided up and documented a number of functions as well as compartmentalising functions into folders * Removed the wpbasis_var_dump() function - this is not a debugging plugin! * Removed previously included CMB library * Renamed template-tags.php to template-functions.php - they are functions not tags! * Add an updates tab to the WP Basis dashboard which indicates updates that are required. * Update the user capabilities removed by the plugin for none WP Basis users * Permissions for gravity forms for non wpbasis users.
